ALL DONE!!!! Your Research Help Was Awesome!

ALL DONE!!! THANK YOU-MAHALO-GRACIAS!!

With all the off-line entries received in addition to the Comments below, we are completely done!! Many thanks.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

I am doing research for two new books that I am writing. Do you have a favorite Scripture verse/passage (or 2-3-4 verses/passages!) about…

PURPOSE-IN-LIFE
GOD’S PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE
GOD’S PLAN FOR A BIBLE CHARACTER’S LIFE

…in one of these books of the Bible noted below? If so, please reply here and tell why you like it! Thank you very much for your assistance. I’m racing the clock to complete these books.

Instructions that will help save time on this end:
1. Please do not post on any of the books of the Bible that are NOT mentioned here – even if you have some all-time favorites. Much appreciated, since I already have more than enough verses/passages from the other books – and need to stay focused on what is still missing.

2. If you use www.BibleGateway.com, that site will allow you to use the NLT (New Living Translation) and you can simply cut/paste it into its own box – and hit “Reply/Post.” [You may put one verse or many verses in a given post – your choice of how you like to operate. Feel free to simply give the reference, and not the text, if that is easier on you.]

3. If you notice that someone else has already mentioned one of your favorite verses, thanks for not listing that verse again!

4. You may post as many verses or as many times as you like! I need all the help I can get. [If you are serious about checking many verses/passages, you may want to cut/paste the list below and work offline – to avoid cyberspace catastrophes. If you do come up with MANY verses or passages, feel free to email them to me at Info@LifePurposeCoachingCenters.com. [Tell me in advance of your quest…and I will hold you and your efforts up to the Lord, by name, for his blessing of your Bible search.]

5. These two books I’m working on won’t allow for “contributors” to be thanked, but I want to thank you in advance right now! THANK YOU SO MUCH! You know that I prayerfully appreciate it, as I hope these manuscripts will be life-changing for the readers.

ONLY 12 BOOKS I NEED YOUR HELP ON:
2 Samuel
1 Kings
2 Kings
2 Chronicles
Ezra
Ecclesiastes
Song of Songs
Isaiah
Lamentations
Ezekiel
Daniel
Hosea

FOR EXAMPLE…How to Post…by Katieb

Genesis 12:1-3 NLT
God Reveals Abraham’s Purpose

The Call of Abram:
1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.

2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

[I love this verse because it is a "calling out" not a "calling to" -- which we don't think about much as a method God uses! Abram obeys, even though he has no idea where he is going. That's sterling obedience!]

in Habakkuk I love this dialogue that the prophet holds with God. In chapter 1:12, "surely you do not PLAN to wipe us out..."

Then God's uplifting response to his vision and plan about his and his people's future in 2:2-3
2
“Write my answer plainly on tablets,
so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
3 This vision is for a future time.
It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place.
It will not be delayed.

Zephaniah 3:14-20 NLT
All of these promises for the future are stated AFTER He has done the purging of impurity, and there is repentance and redemption. It is a picture of the future, that radiates from a place of intimacy with Him...I especially love "the Lord Himself, will live among you!" (vs. 15 AND 17) not to mention all the side benefits such as a good name, fortunes restored, returning home, etc.

14 Sing, O daughter of Zion;
shout aloud, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!
15 For the Lord will remove his hand of judgment
and will disperse the armies of your enemy.
And the Lord himself, the King of Israel,
will live among you!
At last your troubles will be over,
and you will never again fear disaster.
16 On that day the announcement to Jerusalem will be,
“Cheer up, Zion! Don’t be afraid!
17 For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.[b]
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

18 “I will gather you who mourn for the appointed festivals;
you will be disgraced no more.[c]
19 And I will deal severely with all who have oppressed you.
I will save the weak and helpless ones;
I will bring together
those who were chased away.
I will give glory and fame to my former exiles,
wherever they have been mocked and shamed.
20 On that day I will gather you together
and bring you home again.
I will give you a good name, a name of distinction,
among all the nations of the earth,
as I restore your fortunes before their very eyes.
I, the Lord, have spoken!”

In Haggai 1 and 2 the Lord challenged Zerubbabel, the governor, and Jeshua, the high priest, to a clear purpose: refocus their energies on rebuilding the temple instead of their own homes. They rose to the challenge and rallied their people together to accomplish His purpose. Because of this God chose to bless and honor Zerubbabel, and with a flourish the Lord ends the book by saying, "I, the Lord of Heaven's Armies, have spoken!"

Habbakku 2:2-3 NLT
The Lord Will Answer

2 Then the Lord said to me,
“Write my answer plainly on tablets,

3 This vision is for a future time.
It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place.

[This verse has become the "vision/promise" verse for our Genesis XXI Life Purpose Coaching Center...The Lord tells me vision is for a future time and will surely take place in His timing. I am to wait patiently and continue taking steps by faith in trusting his promise.

Nehemiah 4:15-17
God had a purpose for Nehemiah and He has one for me. In order to accomplish His purpose when lack of God-confidence, discouragement, ridicule and the enemy are waiting for me to fail, I keep a "weapon" in one hand and keep going after it with the other.

Job 12:10
In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.

We all know God is in control, yet it seems to so difficult for us to accept it.

1 Peter 5:6-11 (New International Version)

6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

10And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

I am so happy to have the God of all Grace to deliver me and keep me humble as I travel this road of life. Yes, times can become difficult but He will keep me strong and steadfast in difficult times. Just because I am a Christian does not exempt me from the trials of this earthly life.

I have not suffered in as much as dear missionary people do, God cares so much for these people too. I do respect their gifts to their service regions. Carry on His Good Works!

Colossians 1:3-14 NLT
Thanksgiving and Prayer
3 We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, 5 which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News.
6 This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.

7 You learned about the Good News from Epaphras, our beloved co-worker. He is Christ’s faithful servant, and he is helping us on your behalf.[a] 8 He has told us about the love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you.

9 So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy,[b] 12 always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. 13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, 14 who purchased our freedom[c] and forgave our sins.

Colossians 2:2-3 (New Living Translation)

2 I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. 3 In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

I like the NIV version better because it begins "My purpose is"

clarification on previous post:insights from Nehemiahs vision came from The Vision of the Leader- master Teach insitiute which Hubby used for Sunday School. Also insights from Lori Beth Jones book The Path. I think the book of Nehemiah is the best book ever writtn on vision and leadership.Quote from Paul Harvey:A blind man's vision is bounded by limits of his touch: an ignorant man's world by limits of knowledge and a great man's world by the limits of his vision.

Isaiah 64:4 (New Living Translation)

4 For since the world began,
no ear has heard,
and no eye has seen a God like you,
who works for those who wait for him!

This verse has meant a lot to me this past year as I spent a number of months in the "waiting room," in prayer, believing there was a purpose for the waiting, but not clear on any answer to my questions. Then, after a season of waiting, God answered prayers and brought clarity about the next steps to take in my life in such a way that I could understand then. He had been preparing the way ahead of me the whole time I was waiting, and also used the time to prepare my heart and shape my character more through the challenges. This verse reminds me that we can always trust God with our life purpose and that no one who waits on God will be disappointed or ashamed; He works all things together for our good.

1 Chron. 22:5-10- 5 David said, “My son Solomon is still young and inexperienced. And since the Temple to be built for the Lord must be a magnificent structure, famous and glorious throughout the world, I will begin making preparations for it now.” So David collected vast amounts of building materials before his death.

6 Then David sent for his son Solomon and instructed him to build a Temple for the Lord, the God of Israel. 7 “My son, I wanted to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord my God,” David told him. 8 “But the Lord said to me, ‘You have killed many men in the battles you have fought. And since you have shed so much blood in my sight, you will not be the one to build a Temple to honor my name. 9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace. I will give him peace with his enemies in all the surrounding lands. His name will be Solomon,[a] and I will give peace and quiet to Israel during his reign. 10 He is the one who will build a Temple to honor my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. And I will secure the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’

This is a perfect example of God's prevenient grace as God had spoken this to David before his sin with Bathsheba (Solomon's mom)(See 2Sam. 7:8-11)- Sometimes we are called to be like David (making extensive preparation to help others) and sometimes we are called to be like Solomon (doing a great thing for God)-either way this scripture is a great reminder of the plans God has for us just like he did for David and Solomon.

Zechariah 8: 2-15
Promised Blessings for Jerusalem
2 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: My love for Mount Zion is passionate and strong; I am consumed with passion for Jerusalem!
6 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: All this may seem impossible to you now, a small remnant of God’s people. But is it impossible for me? says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
7 ... You can be sure that I will rescue my people from the east and from the west. 8 I will bring them home again to live safely in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be faithful and just toward them as their God.

9 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Be strong and finish the task! ....
11 “But now I will not treat the remnant of my people as I treated them before, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
12 For I am planting seeds of peace and prosperity among you. The grapevines will be heavy with fruit. The earth will produce its crops, and the heavens will release the dew. Once more I will cause the remnant in Judah and Israel to inherit these blessings. 13 ...Now I will rescue you and make you both a symbol and a source of blessing. So don’t be afraid. Be strong, and get on with rebuilding the Temple! 15 But now I am determined to bless Jerusalem and the people of Judah. So don’t be afraid.
( I Love this passage of scripture because it focuses on the fact that God's passion must also prevail in the minds and hearts of His people. God promises us in our stick-to-itiveness - He will prevail on our behalf, through His love,...according to the inheritance He has promised for our lives. Coupled with this passion it speaks to our cooperativeness in the process of receiving what God has for our lives. ) Selah. - Jennifer Owens
